Just posting a little check-in. Hope everyone is doing OK. I'm getting some lovely messages from readers who are enjoying THE STITCHERS. Thank you to everyone who has read, shared, posted a review, or tagged me on social media. I LOVE hearing your thoughts and seeing pictures of my book out in the wild!
I recently handed in my edits for the sequel, which is called THE COLLECTORS. Look for it next fall! This week I got a sneak peak of the cover, and it's absolutely creeptastic! Can't wait to share!
Now I'm diving into an all new, top secret project for the month of November, which is NANOWRIMO month (National Novel Writing Month; OR! Write a novel in a month...) We'll see what I can draft!
Hope you're staying safe and well.
I've got TWO giveaways happening right now. One is a StoryGram Kids tour. This is basically when book bloggers take pretty pictures of a book. Find the details on my IG page: @LorienLawrence for your chance to win a copy of THE STITCHERS!
And the second one is from Trick or Reaters - this one lets you win 20 spooky MG books! Don't miss out!
Announcing my first giveaway for the month!
And this one is very special to me. About a year and a half ago, I got to spend the day with special effects artist, Tyler Green. I had reached out to him while doing some book research, and he was so kind as to let me come to his studio and ask him my 50,000 questions. He recently came out with a line of monster-making kits for kids; these seemed like the PERFECT giveaway partner for my monster book.
SO.... I'm giving away a signed hardcover of THE STITCHERS, and Tyler's zombie Monster Kidz Box! (There may be some extra spooky swag thrown in as well!)
To enter simply fill out this form, and make sure you're following Tyler and me on social media.
The giveaway is US only and will run between October 1-11th. The winner will be notified through email.
Good luck, everyone!
It's officially Fall, and you know what that means: SPOOKY SEASON! To celebrate, I'll be doing not one, but TWO giveaways during the month of October. I'll also be participating in a few panels and fun interviews, so watch this space and my social media pages for more info.
My book birthday was a dream. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU to those who helped me welcome THE STITCHERS into the world.
Here are a few images from my release day.
The release of THE STITCHERS is fast approaching - I can't believe it's almost here! Please join me in conversation with Shannon Doleski for a fun, spooky launch party. Of course, it's free and virtual. There will be a costume contest and a goodies giveaway, including a signed book. To join, just click on the Eventbrite link and sign up. On Tuesday I will send an email to everyone with the Zoom link.
Hope to see you there!
If you follow me on social media, you probably saw me posting about the Middle Ground Book Fest: a festival I co-founded and helped organize that is meant to celebrate the middle grade reader. I'm incredibly proud of this festival, and all of the videos are available on YouTube for the whole year. So if you haven't had a chance to watch any, you still have plenty of time to check them out! Below is the welcome video from myself and the other organizers, my friends Shannon Doleski, Tanya Guerrero, and Janae Marks. You can find the rest of our panels and mini-lessons on www.middlegroundbookfest.com
Check out my interview with two of the co-creators of Connecticut's premier literary festival, The Saugatuck Storyfest. They ask me some fun questions about books, music, movies and nostalgia.
If you follow me on social media, then you already have heard me SCREAMING about this over the last week. THE STITCHERS RECEIVED ITS FIRST BLURB! AND...
Wait for it...
IT'S FROM STEPHEN freaking KING!
I'm still in shock that the master of horror liked my little monster story. Blurbs are a stressful part of the publishing process, and I feel so incredibly fortunate that my team at Abrams Kids took a risk and asked one of my favorite authors for a review. And best part of all, the design team updated my already gorgeous cover. Check it out below, along with the full blurb.
